Default Avon grips

This is my third set of Avon memory foam TBW grips on 3 different sets of bars (2 different bikes) and all of them have been great, this is why I keep coming back. Lately I’ve heard of some manufacturing defects happening with Avon and I believe I have a pair on my hands now.

I installed a set today and the throttle does not snap back when released. It’s easily closed and will slowly close on its own but doesn’t snap back. Anyone else experienced similar? They’re on KST bars if that matters at all.

I’ve run Avons that I installed, and installed other grips on TBW bikes. I wouldn’t think this would be an issue with the grip, unless the grip is too tight on the bar?

The aftermarket HD grips that I took off worked fine, and the Avons have been fine on every other bike I’ve installed them on.

got this set in the mail today, went to the garage, slapped them on and they’re not jiving like they should. Tried it with the switch packs and perch clamps loose and tight, same result. It’s almost like the ID of the grip is too small on the bar itself, or there’s some sort of booger in there hanging it up.

I liked my Avon memory foam grips I installed three years ago so much I almost wouldn’t take them off to install heated grips. Turns out I like heat in winter more than I like memory foam.

I’d eyeball the insides with a bright light to see if the offending obstruction can be exorcised, or send them back.

Just a suggestion....make sure the throttle/grip is not pushed against the end of the bar. Make sure you have just a little clearance between the grip and bar.

You can also use a sharpie on the handlebars and see if the inner portion of the grip is rubbing any one particular area

I resolved this. Part of the grip was rubbing the switch pack just enough to slow it down. Readjusted everything and it works like it should.
