Fault Code C1184c
Bud's 2021 street glide has been throwing a C1184c fault code since he bought it used a few months back, ABS Invalid VIN From ECM. Anybody have any input as to what to expect ? if he takes it in ? Everything works with the brake system, including the ABS, but won' clear Local dealer wants 2hrs labor to hook it up and reflash the ECM. Trying to get a feel for whats coming and is the labor a bit excessive.

apparently the ecu has been swapped out. the abs and ecu needs the same vin or you will get that mismatched code. the abs calibration is locked to a particular machine. nothing new, gm and i would guess most do the same via vin.
a gm dealer MUST input a vin into the system so they can download from the mothership and then to the vehicle, a two step process.
it doesn't hurt the dealer because he got you by the yang-yang!!!

Yeah about what I figured was going on, he picked this up used from a broker sale a few months back. Being Cali and their BS I'm figuring it had a tuner at one point, got flagged, owner did some dancing and sold it to dodge the coming headaches.
