I've seen you post a few times and I finally had to ask you something. I noticed that you were from Wales and my grandpa came from the southern part of Wales specifically the same town as Tom Jones is supposed to be from. I know the town, I just can't remember how to spell it. What is your riding time there like and what seems to be the type of rides that you have in your part of the world? Thankyou
I guess that would be Pontypridd then? (I think that's where TJ came from) Thats near Cardiff - about 100 miles east from me. I'm on the South-west coast. Great coastline and countryside, there are some decent mountain and forest regions all within easy reach, so some great riding. Weather is generally pretty good in the summer, but we get our fair share of rain. Winters are fairly mild (doesn't get much below freezing) and very little snow where we are, but we do get it on the hills. It does get very wet and windy, though!
We also have the ferry to Ireland about 20 miles from here - did about 1,000 miles there last year. It's only about a couple of hours to get over the border into England and a day's run to Scotland, so we have plenty of choice. If we want to go further afield, Its about a 3 hour ride and I can be on a ferry to France, Spain, Holland etc - It would be real nice to try and make one of the HOG rallies in either St Tropez, France or Monte Gordo, Portugal this year, but what with having just bought the Harley, there's an awful lot to spend my cash on at the moment! Have to see how it goes. There's plenty of action in the UK over the summer, if not
Much thanks for your reply to my question. That was the right town. No offense, I didn't want to try and spell it and embarrass myself. My grandpa died at the age of 97 when I was young. I've looked at Wales on the Internet and I think that I would like it there. I grew up in the Pacific NW and I'm sure that the rain wouldn't bother me. It sounds like you have a lot of interesting places to ride your bike and I, in a way, envy you. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I really don't care, my last name was Davies but for some reason it was changed to Davis, I don't know why. I'll bet that it's a pretty common name there. I also hope that you have a lot of fun riding your bike and keep the rubber side down, from a transplanted fellow countryman.
