Default Tank dash speedo console
Hey

i have removed the dash cover on my 97 Wide Glide, any reason why there is a threaded rod with a domed nut instead of a bolt holding the dash cover in place on the tank?

That's the stock setup. The threaded rod is welded to the tank bracket. The domed nut is just the cleanest way to hold the cover on from the top. It's supposed to be like that.

Threaded rod is turned into an insert on your tank, not welded. 95% of the time it comes out like a bolt if Loktite was used on the acorn nut. Yes it is factory.

Interestingly, the cage nut is still available.
