I feel really really lucky to still have friends that ride. Still a few life long guys too. Last time out we have 7 of us together.
Feel good when you get old friends together like that. As we have gotten older everyone wants to be home before dark. We used to watch the sun come up when we were younger. Damn, getting old sucks !
As long as you'll be safe for other people to be on the road with, just keep riding. I belive that being the last one of your crew, you owe this to all those who left or had to give up. They'll think about you or watch you from far and will be sure that their story is carried on. If you can, try inspire some younger mates to continue what you've done with your friends.
Have you ever read "The Never Ending Story"? Your riding story is and keeps alive everybody else's riding story.
I can relate.....Just keep riding if you can.
I started riding at 12 yrs old and licenced in 1978, soon found a group a crazy's to ride with but after a lot of yrs with clubs and living the lifestyle there is only a couple of us left, and they dont ride.
I mostly ride solo now, sometimes with my wife and my son who ride's a 650 Yamaha, when he gets his full license I will give him my 94Dyna Convertible thats sitting in the shed under cover, I will keep riding my 88 FLHTC as long as I can hold her up and have fun.
I try and get out on some poker runs/shop ride's and fund raisers etc as often as I can, got a few close mate's younger than myself that are in clubs so I get invites for rides and weekends away every now and then.
It's a shame what age does to us.. Loosing riding buddies suck.. Our group of riders are in the 58-74 age range and rides are getting shorter and less frequently, yeah it sucks but it's life.. I need to get to warmer weather, the cold up here makes the joints hurt a lot..
Im in the same situation. Im only 73, and been on 2 since 15. There was a core group of us that numbered 7 or 8 that are down to one other and me, and he says hes done after this season. Hes only 72, but was hard on his body over the years and cant move as well as he used to.
We recently moved to warmer weather. Ive never been in any organized club or group, but I actually joined the local HOG to meet/ride with like-minded folks. Well see how that goes. My bride is starting to have mobility issues and mounting/dismounting the bike becomes more difficult as time goes by, so more often than not I ride solo. 😳
Ive heard of a riding group called ROMEOs, Retired Old Motorcyclists Eating Out, but havent tried that - there apparently are many all around. Maybe check them out?
Beware! Boats can be more expensive than bikes!! 😆😎

Not totally giving in. I have a project in the works but haven't been able to work on it due to the weather and my wife's health issues. I've also spotted a bike coming up for sale, that I can only hope most don't realize what it's worth. That would put me back in good standing with my EVO brothers.
Wish you all the BEST. That time of year is here again. Keep the shiny side up.
Yeah, but for track you need a dedicated bike and generally have to trailer it to and fro just to ride for a while. That's not really a freedom ride. Just sayin'. Been there, did that. For those with cabins in the woods, it works.
