Default Saddleman touring step up with or without backrest?

Im going to ride to sturgis this year which is about 1300 miles one way and was looking at buying the saddleman touring step up for my roadglide. I can't decide to either get one with the driver backrest or without. 95% of the time I'll have the backrest off. When the backrest is off can you tell or is there a hole showing going where it goes? Right now i have the saddleman sdc and rode it about 900 miles in one day and it was fine but the wife was not happy. Im looking for a little more padding for her and didnt know if the driver backrest was worth it. Thanks in advance

I would totally suggest getting the one with driver back rest. Whether you use it all the time or not, it’s worth having for when you do want it.

As far as when the back rest is not inserted, it’s not a huge hole and it’s barely noticeable.
