Holy chocolate milk I could ride all day with a backrest
So I decided that since I got a touring bike I would set it up for absolute comfort, after all touring implies long miles. I did 150+ yesterday with no stops and could have gone all day because of the backrest. I just got a HD plain one off ebay for 70 bucks, a mount for 40 and it is possibly my favorite mod so far (only had the bike for 3 days) but after I get the sundowner seat I cannot imagine not being able to ride all day. Thanks for all the threads that helped me make the decision to install it.
I included a backrest with my 2009 SG when I bought it. The backrest makes a world of difference for me also. I can ride a full tank of fuel, but cannot do the same without the backrest. Just a little support on the lower back makes a world of difference.
Shopping for one lately. Looking at the fancy gas activated HD one that folds out of the way for passenger, but looking for any inputs out there. Stock seat for now.
different backrest though as mine has no lines. Looks like it has everything that I needed. The installation was very straight forward and the install took about 15 minutes.
I'm 53 and sold mine. Had the fancy adjustable and couldn't get it in a good spot. I like slouching anyway and the wife didn't care for having to toss her leg over it and she felt cramped also. Like a carny bumper car she said.
