Howdy, I’m brand new to HD, everything else ive owned has been Japanese so I apologize in advance if I don’t understand how HD does things.
I just bought a 96 wide glide and it has a vacuum operated hypercharger on it so naturally it has some issues with running. Going down the road it runs like a champ, doesn’t stumble or pop (much). Now when you come to a complete stop, if I don’t hold the throttle open slightly the engine will die out as soon as I hit the clutch. I’ve noticed that on decel the butterfly valves are completely closed obviously as vacuum is high.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to remove this object. I was reading the destructions about installation and see that it tees off vacuum from ignition advance which could be contributing to my issues. Do these older Evos run anything else off of vacuum besides the ignition advance? I’ve got a big sucker and intake seals on the way but I’m also sending it off this week to have the cam bearing done
Gutting the butterflies helped tremendously! As soon as I took off on the road the vacuum line popped off which is probably why it kept bogging down when I came to a stop.
