These ideas always get thought up by those who don`t want to spend any money on tools, a great idea for them.

I would never send one of my tools out as a loaner (and likely to someone who doesn`t even know how to use it).

I don`t see any benefit to the guy who loans the tools, just the guy who borrows them.

I didn`t buy them to rent or loan out, I bought them for myself.

The benefit is to be a decent fellow rider, helping out another rider. Don't expect that fits some...

I was the tool and equipment guy in my last neighborhood, because I have damn near anything guy's needs to do anything they are working on.
The only complaint I have is, at times had to go **** my stuff back. Other than that - I like helping people that are doing their own work as it is becoming a lost craft. I also weld, fabricate, engineering design things for people on things they are fabricating. I never expected anything in return. Usually got some beer, and good conversation for the work. That was more than enough for the satisfaction of helping guys out.

I have sent a few motorcycle tools to guys on the Triumph forum I Admin at, and I never had a single issue and usually came back with a gift card in with the equipment or parts. But it was not expected in any manner.

USPS Priority mail has sml-med-lrg boxes, and weight limits or something like 70 lbs. Insurance is included or minimal extra charge for higher coverage for extra expensive items.

There's a big difference being the local guy that knows his neighbors and sending a tool from Florida to Arizona to someone you don't know, or know if you can trust them. I've personally sent tools by USPS and UPS to people I "KNOW" on forums so they can use them. The key word is I "KNOW" them for many years on the forum. I've also given tools to people I know.

I stop on the road to help riders, and help them get it running or a ride if needed. But if someone I don't know walks to my house and wants to borrow something, not happening.

I'm not into socialism. I've worked hard all my life to have the things I have.

I think if you want to play you gotta pay. No welfare on tools. I don't loan tools period.

Nah, it wouldn't be something I'm interested in. Sometimes it's hard enough to recover a tool loaned a month ago to a neighbor a few houses down without have to chase down a 10mm socket loaned out to somebody half way across the country!
