Figured I might as well dovetail in with this thread rather than pollute with another redundant thread.
I'm having issues finding a helmet that will fit as well. I do have one heck of a melon though. It's about 26" in diameter, so that puts me over 3XL on pretty well any manufacturer. Looks like Vega has some full face helmets that will go that big (Datana XPV), but I'm having problems finding a shop that has one in that size to see if it'll fit. Hate to order one in and then find I hate the darn thing. [&:]
I heard there's a HD 3/4 helmet that goes up to 4X, but I haven't managed to stumble across one either.
If I understand correctly, the helmets are typically manufactured in 2 or 3 shells, with the liners that are put inside them actually determining the specific size? Correct me if I'm wrong here, please!
Anyone else know of helmets sized for the cranially gifted? [sm=helpout.gif]
When I was racing, I wore a full coverage helmet; now that I am jest cruzin' I do the 3/4 coverage. This summer I may just get a 1/2 but it will be DOT approved and not just a novelty helmet.
I recently bought an open face (three quarter??) that has a ratcheting full coverage shield. Wind protection of a full face, but MUCH lighter. It is an off brand (Rodia) but It is my second (other a full) one as they fit my odd shaped noggin well and are pretty quite. It was dirt cheap; about $45 delivered to my door. Just another option and the cost to try it won't kill you if it doesn't work out.
