Default Help!! Need cheaper place in Phoenix

Can anyone suggest a shop that can install my new chrome stuff? I have the fork covers and sliders (fatboy), sprocket cover, handlebar controls/levers, etc. Pegs and such I can do. I just am not comfy with nor have the ability to do the stuff with the forks, controls, and pulling the rear wheel. The dealer wanted $300 just for the fork covers.

There are no places in Phoenix or anywhere else in Arizona that can install chrome. Chrome is a disease and all intelligent life avoids it. Besides it attracts unwanted attention from those saucer-shaped thingies often seen in Arizona skies.

Skip,

I was wondering if you were gonna let this one go by...

4meracer, are you willing to drive to Yuma? 2 1/2 hours...I can check with my local dealer. I've got the lowers coming for my ride as well...I haven't read up on it yet, but I'm planning on doing it myself. I'll probably go by the dealership tomorrow anyway if not I'll call.

Let me know what you want done and I'll ask Bobby (head mechanic/owner).

Mac

I got tired of the tinfoil crumpling and flying off when I ride, so I had a sheet of stainless foil I used in heat treating knives vacuum formed (appropriate, huh?) and surgically implanted just 'neath my scalp.

On a more serious note: When you say fork covers, are you referring to the fork tins at the top of the fork? If so, does this consist of 3 pieces, front and 2 side/rear pieces? $300 is way high for removing and reinstalling a headlight, and about 4 cap screws holding the tins in place.

Are you getting new chrome sliders or putting on some of the "skins" that simply cover the existing sliders? If the latter I'd reconsider. The skins look OK from a distance, but up close are readily seen as covers. Apologies to all who might've installed some, but IMNSHO, they tend to look cheap. Getting new sliders is obviously more expensive and labor intensive, but the results are far better.

Overall, none of what you are having done is too difficult, but is relatively labor intensive. Labor, as we all know, ain't cheap.

I used to work at area 51 in Nevada and you'll need more than tinfoil if you ride in the Southwest. Buuuwoooohaahaa[sm=vader1.gif]
