received ( a little expected) a unsatisfied answer from the company. The warranty is expired an no tips or advise. Go to your dealer is the answer. Well thats wat i going to do. Check a dealer here in the netherlands for some testing or so..
My 'Buddy' (03 bike) had a problem after some time with his remote, found he must replace the battery in the siren itself.
Also. Make absolutely certain you use the correct batt in the remote, no substitutes.
Another 'buddy' could not get his (08 bike) to marry up, siren was good. So after hearing that some models of the siren were known by HD to not work in the button-less fobs, he borrowed the siren from a friends 03 and it worked! Went to the dealer, they said, too bad we know nothing and your siren purchase is expired. He went in later bought a new siren, it worked!
.
NiteOwl you may have the answer with replacing the battery on the unit itself. Once I figure out how to get the battery out I will change it and see if it will pair up with my remote.

Finally success! There is a battery on the siren in the event the main battery is removed. Also there is an antenna that is not to be grounded. Unfortunately non of these were my problem. Siren was still on warrantee so I had dealer replace siren. Voila instantly it paired up. I read somewhere that HD may have had a problem with earlier sirens. My suggestion is for anyone having a problem either try a new siren or try to pair to another bike and see if that works. Good Luck!
