part compatabilty
I have a 08 flxh I come across some parts on craigslist. Besides by the part numbers what other way can you tell if a part will fit my bike. Like cars you can use 94 honda parts and use it on 95. I seen some saddlebag gards and sissy bar from a 2007 road glide. What years and models parts are compatable with my 08 FLHX. thx

The HD parts numbering system is crazy. I have a rear roadwinder wheel that was for a 2005 Deuce that fits my 2006 Lowrider. It had 2 part numbers on it one stamped in the hub and one on a sticker and a 3rd number on the box it came in (sealed from the factory). If possible check both parts manuals from your year and the year of the part. It helps if you know a dealer parts guy who has been in the business for a long time. My dealer happens to keep all the old catalogs which is a big help.
