Got a 51 Pan with a Morris almost 40 years. Mag unit rebuilt by factory Trouble starting. Used to start on 2nd kick every time years ago. Me & bike were down a long time. Bike has been thoroughly gone over & rebuilt by me. I am almost at the point of trying an electronic ignition. I check for spark at night & it is consistent. Read to try .018-.020 plug gap instead of Morris recommended .020-.025 Also to buy single fire module wires from Morris. Supposedly entire spark goes to only one plug at a time than being divided. This is a kick start. Got 90-100 psi in both cylinders so I think valves are set right. Had to upgrade the linkert to an S&S & a Pingel. Money is very tight, so just can't make unnecssary purchases. Read to try Autolite fine wire platinum plugs instead of regular. On one of the last times it was running with autolite plugs the colors were good. Had to run a hotter plug in front & that cleared that problem. Had a compression of 60 psi in my rear cylinder & used Marvel Mystery Oil to loosen the rings up which it did & restored compression. However, had to burn the excess oil off & starting since has been a problem Adding new gas today, maybe the other is stale?
Anyway any insight fom anyone will be helpful. I feel its a simple error keeping me down. Can't get any help out here in Florida. They say its "old technolgy" & without a button starter making it harder. Well out to do battle with the Dragon now.

 

Sounds crazy, but re-check your timing.
Could be 180 degrees out.

I very carefully rechechecked everything. Set with a light., after disconnecting parallel grounded condensor & coil. Ran great, strong etc. Shut down due to a pan cover leak. Next day nothing. Infrequent spark & weak. Checked at night. This bs has gone on too long! I have exhausted my patience & have done it so often i can do it blindfold. I am shitcanning it! I will try a mallory electronic next! My 4th of july was wasted. I just can't understand how it ran for years without problems & now can't work 2 days in a row!
