RUST on new ULTRA!!
I'm a new Harley owner. I've owned Jap bikes all my life to include the GoldWing that I just sold to purchase my first Harley.
So, I'm looking over my Ultra yesterday which now only has 250 miles on it and I see the horrifying color of rust around some of the bolt holes and such. Some of the places are around the spring nipple under the passenger floorboards, around the plastic caps on the black frame above and below the round chrome cap near where the passenger floor boards attach, and one of the threaded empty holes on the black bracket under the tripple tree on the back side near where the brake line runs.
I realize that these are steel frames but is it unreasonable to expect no rust on a brand new bike?? I panic when I see rust. is it covered under warranty?
More importantly, how can I get in front of this ASAP and protect the rest of the bike and stop these current areas from worsening? Any protectants I should be using?
Tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.
