I have a 2009 Road King Classic. I will be going on a trip to meet up with my wife who is going up earlier in the car.
In an effort to avoid freeways and the turnpike, I am going to take a back way up thru the everglades. I have never taken this route (about 125 miles each way).
I have a rechargable Magellon Maestro GPS for my car. I have been looking at using this GPS for my bike on this trip (so I don't get lost). I have experimented with using the suction cup to attach it to either the windshield, or the gas tank. It appears to adhere strong enough to either.
But, I do not want the use of this to result in damage to my paint, or windshield. So my question is, has anyone used a suction cup to attach a GPS to either of these places? And if so, did any damage. or marking result?
Thanks for the link. But I am leaving Friday. So the suction cup will need to do for now. I intend on buying the Zump 550... eventually, but not quite ready to opart with the 700.00 bucks just yet.

I have a suction cup Ram mount for when I use the Zumo in the truck. Based on my experience, I wouldn't use it on mine, but ymmv. I'll stick with the ball/ubolt combination.
If you do end up doing the lick & stick, you might consider some kind of tether cord so that if it came loose it wouldn't fall onto the road.

Thanks for that advice, great idea. But my big concern is that it does not ruin the windshield or paint, whichever I attach it to. Don't the windshields have soem sort of film coating? I just would no twant to seperate it.

Oops.. didn't realize the time constraint. Good luck and have a great ride!
I have the Garmin on my Utlra and use the suction cup. I mount it on my fuel door cover so not to screw up my paint. The wind donesnt bother it and doesn't get in the waty of my gadgets. Never had it come loose yet and traveled hundreds of miles with it there. I did tie a cord to the handle bar just in case it came loose. the flat Chrome surface worked great.
just this weekend my buddy that suctions his GPS to the bike the cup let loose and the GPS went fly'n! i got a $20 mount on Ebay and it works great! hooks to 1 in bars

I ended up with it on the windshield (with a tether as recommended), not issues. The only problems were is was hard to read in the daylight and difficult to hear over the wind. One point I needed to judge where to turn and had to stop to have it repeat back to me so I could hear it. It a Magellon Maestro.
