Default cleaning

anyone please help,

I have an 06 standard softail. non chrome cylinder head covers. already they look like s@$#.
any ideas on how to buff them back. have tried mothers mag and aluminum polish to no avail.
are these anodized or simple polished aluminum???
also rear cast aluminum rim the polished portion is already pitted. any ideas??

Semi-Chrome..lottsa rubbing..then coat with Mequiars wax ...

I had the same problem with a Superglide I owned. I sprayed the motor with degreaser while still hot. Man, did that do a number on the aluminum parts!! Sorry, but I'll bet you'll be switching out parts as affordable. Waxing won't hold up under the engine temperature. I did swap my parts in trade for chromed ones at a local h-d speed shop. It cut my cost by a lot compared to just buying them at the h-d dealership. But good luck with buffing them up if swapping out isn't an option.
