Saddle bag isolators
On my Heritage I removed the bags for storage during last winter. The isolators that attach to the lower frame bracket ripped apart. According to my maint. manual, that acorn nut should have just come off the threaded rod. No such luck. The isolators have threads sticking out both ends but not through the middle to eliminate vibrations. I heard this is a common problem. Solutions anyone? All I can think of is drilling and using an easy out. Once they are out, would you replace them with parts from HD or modify with solid bolt and bushing. Not as good vibration wise but I know I could get them off again without the hassle. Thanks.

Once you get through the piece of rubber there will be a flat headed type of bolt you should be able to grip it with a pair of vise grips and use an open end wrench on the acorn nut.
If you want to put islolators back on just use some anti seize and a lock washer
