$60 for a service manual.. let's put that into perspective for you.

Oil change at a dealer will cost you $125 minimum
5 qts synthetic oil - $60 (4 for engine, 1 for transmission)
1 qt formula + for the primary - $8
gasket set which includes the primary inspection cover gasket and 3 o-rings - $12
oil filter - $16
that's 60 + 8 +12 + 16 = $96 (and that's if you're as **** as I am and change all 3 fluids each 2500 miles) most only change engine oil at 2500 miles. to each his own.

so that's $96 and a wealth of knowledge in your hands with the service manual. Absolutely PRICELESS

Are the HD Service Manuals really good? Haven't seen one for my 2000 FatBoy. was wondering how they compared to the Clymer book (that I can get my hands on)

Have you read all this thread? Yes they are. You can get a factory manual for your bike from your local friendly dealer, or on line. Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean they are not available - you can get crisp new Harley manuals going back to the Ark!

As for commercial manuals, they are very general, cover a great many years, don't cover everything and sometimes are plain wrong. A factory manual will only deal with your model, possibly only one or very few years, and is written by the manufacturers.

When you have been in here a little longer you will find this subject comes up frequently, with the same answers!
