I actually found some twisty roads in the UAE the other day. Great fun as it was the bike did object to my cornering! Cranked over about as far as I could without grounding my V & H pipes, the back end of my bike was squirming and stepping out. Why??
My Iron is lowered and has forward controls, all done properly by HD. I'm wondering if this is the reason for the sketchy performance as my mate's stock Iron was settled and steady on the same ride.
The taller a bike is, the better clearance you get for turns without scrapping. you did the opposite. it's a sporty and not a sportbike. I scrape on the turns but i can make some tight turns. just be careful when you scrape cuz that's when the bike will pull out from under you
Is it lowered both front and back to keep the original geometry, or just the back, as is common? That can/will change the handling. Also, if the rear tire pressure is low, that will really make it squirmy on turns, doesn't always have to be much, either. If I'm fast enough to be in high gear, my sporty leans quite nicely, but I have to be careful accelerating in first and second on turns, too much gas and the old Dunlops can (have!) break loose, and that gets exciting in a hurry. Should have my new Avon Venoms in a week or two, hope they stick a lot better. When your back end is stepping out, you're close to having a really bad day, might want to avoid that till you fix it.
