When I went to ride my 2005 Springer Classic this morning, my odometer has my mileage as 848614.
Is there any way to fix this back to the true mileage?
Are you saying that overnight the mileage on the odometer changed?
If so, what do you attribute that to? What do you think the mileage should be?
Unless you can prove what the actual mileage is, changing the odometer (if possible) could be considered fraud. JMO

I'm sure that I did not put 800000+ miles on my bike. I should be around 32000ish. I bought the bike used in April 2011 with I think 21k or 24k miles on it. It has had only 1 oil change so far which was done at 4500. Since the oil change I put about 3600 on.
As to what attributed to it, I have no idea.
Scrmvtwins: So I can take it to the dealership and have it restored to it's actual mileage then? That's a relief.
Call your dealer to confirm as I just recall this issue being posted before and a follow up post stating the computer had the actual mileage. I don't recall what the root cause was but it sounded like they would be able to get restored to the proper mileage.
This is correct that the newer models store the odometer reading via the ECM. I am not 100% that an 05 falls in this category but you may try unplugging the connector on the back of the speedo then plugging it back in to see if it resets to the proper odometer reading. Otherwise you may be looking at having to purchase a new speedo.
