Default Looking for Basic "how-to" manual

I have just come across an older Sportster that is in bad shape and was given to me. I have never worked on my own bike and know nothing about it but since this second bike was free I am going to experiment and play arounf with to try and learn. Can someone please recommend some good basic manuals for me to pick up. Thanks.

Welcome to HDF from the UK. Uncle Chester has nailed it! Factory manual first, which any Harley dealer should be able to supply, even if they don't have one in stock. Get the one for the correct year. They occasionally turn up on Ebay, so take a look there.
