Default Check Engine Light

I'm needing some help. A friend of mine has an '03 Wide Glide (carbed & 30k miles) and the engine light intermittantly comes on. This just started occurring this weekend. It will come on for a minute or two and go off for a minute and then come back on. The bike runs great and is otherwise stock except for Long Shots. I'm at a loss as to what can trigger this light to come on. Thanks for your help.

John

Could be as simple as a defective bulb, or a damaged wire making intermittent contact with ground. Many electrical problems are actually mechanical, such as damaged wire, loose connector and the like. Close inspection of everything linked to that light may find the cause. It may also be a charging circuit problem and the DIY Electrical section has some stickys that will help check that.
