I use a compass...I ride a lot on country back roads and knowing which direction I am going in after going around fourteen curves and getting lost means I get home in time for supper! I bought a $3.00 ball compass from Wally World and stuck it on the windwhield just above my windshield bag. Doesn't get in the way, and it is far enough from any significant metal that it shows true direction. If I ever do lose the darn thing, $3 will get me another one. Hard to beat. And it looks kind of neat right there too.
In the last 27 years I have literally made a complete trip around the globe (twice) without a compass! Trust me. You won't get lost. The Earth's an "oblate spheroid" and eventually you'll just make a big circle.
So, keep going....enjoy the ride.....and you'll eventually wind up back where you started from. Just make sure you don't run out of gas until you've crossed the top of the hill!
