mechanical sound
A while ago my 2008 Nightrain started making a mechanical clinging sound in bottom end of the engine about where the exhaust is placed.
Initially it sounded like a lose push rod.
It sounded like something was vibrated lose and only occurred when the RPM went up.
We were on a run so instead of taking the time to investigate I continued riding.
The mild mechanical sound intensified into a loud metal clinging so had to leave the bike behind and transported back home.
Send it to my local mechanic who investigated and had to replace oil pump and cam support plate.
Decided to change cams also and go for a high performance aftermarket kit from fueling.
Changed, cams, lifters, oil pump, support plate, push rods and the sound was indeed gone.
After about a week the sound slowly came back and was intensifying.
Send it to local mechanic again who drained all oil did some removing and re-assembly, without replacing anything, and sound was gone again.
Now a week later sound is returning again.
Mechanic does not know what to do.
Does anyone have any idea (or even experience) what might be wrong ?
