Default Kuryakyn clamp on driving lights

I just have a question about mounting these things. I have 49mm forks and these things come with 2 sets of spacers. It appears the 2 part spacers are too small which means I need to use the 1 piece spacers.

My question is, do I just spread them enough to get around the fork tube? The opening on them is way too small to just side them on. The 1 piece spacers are aluminum so they should be able to spread with out any problem. Just wondering if any one here has first hand knowledge...

I've been searching till my brain is dead, I have found in the PDF installation instructions that I do need to use the 1 piece spacer (which is installed under the clamp) but I don't want to damage the spacers by expanding the opening too much. The opening of the spacer is only about half of the diameter of the down tube and will need to be expanded to install.

Has anyone here got a clue if that is what needs to be done to put these things on?

I'm open to suggestions......

Resolved...

I just used brute strength and opened them up, slid them on then closed them back up again. It's soft aluminum so it didn't take much to do it. I just didn't want to mess them up if there was a different/better way to do it, but it worked out fine.
