I counted up my long weekends for the next few months and I have july 17 though the 21 off. I was looking for something to do and I came acroos the boogie and little sturgis. I've read some of the posts and I think I've decided on the boogie. I think I got the wife talked into going. She said she is ok with the nudity, but I can't seem to find alot of info on it.
1. How fast does the campground fill up?
2. How big is the site. Wife was wondering how much walking.
3. Any fights, don't want to get my wife in the middle of that
4. Do you have to be an ABATE member or will the KMA membership work.
5. Can you ride in the camp.
There grounds are HUGE so there is always a place to camp. But depending on where you want to camp. The main drag fills up real quick. There is usually always room down the big hill.
Again the grounds are HUGE...you cannot walk them. But they confine the main "party city" so you can ride there and park your bike and walk around "vendor village" and the main stage is there too.
In 4 years I have yet to see a fight of any sort. Everyone has been nothing but respectful to me.
It states you need to be a member of ABATE or another nationally recognized motorcycle rights association. WE have good friends in ABATE. I will find out if KMA will work
Yes there are road all thru the grounds and you can ride everywhere you need to go. There are also tractors shuttles that run most of the time and circle the grounds.
You will not be diappointed It is a great time, there is always a place to camp, the bottom it for the most part the flatest part of the grounds...Try to get there as early as you can on Thurs and will not have any problems finding a place.
A few of us up north here are considering the Boogie this year, but my wife will not camp. How close are hotels and how much will we miss by not camping? Thanks for the info! Bryan
The closest hotels are in Bedford. I highly recommend the Stone Henge Lodge...it's about 18 miles (20 minutes) from the Boogie. They have a nice pool and a bar in the hotel. We stayed there the first two years we went. IMO you miss a LOT by not camping.I guess it depends on how late you stay at the grounds. My biggest problem with the hotel was that when you are at the Boogie you want to take a break and sit down for a bit and you can't because you have no camp site. The hotel is nice for showers and to get away from the heat though.
Having a campsite is pretty cool if you plan on letting go a little bit and drinking. It would seem easier to rent an FV then to go to a hotel. The Boogie is one of the few places thatI will let my guard down very much.
