I enjoyed myself on both rides, one was a distance to get to the start, one was fairly close to home and did not even think about types of bikes until now. I don't use my windshield and was comfortable on both rides. I did wear chaps for this ride and was the only one with them on. The idea is to meet new people, see some new sites and take a nice ride. I do understand not wanting to take a long ride to get to the start of another ride if it is too cold or otherwise inclement weather. To each his own I guess.
There were are couple of us on the ride that are not baggers (couple of Softails and a Dyna). It was a great ride, and other than the Ultra owners swapping wish list stories all day (haha) there wasn't anything that would have shown a preference for any type of bike. The leather didn't care what bike we rode and kept us warm for the ride. Some of the bagger stereos (one in particular) provided tunes for the ride.
glideridemike, I mean NO disrespect with this post! It's just unfortunate that you missed out on a great ride.
I understand and respect your opinion and in no way do I take your post as being disrespectful 06. Just like I did not mean mine to show disrespect either. Some of the responses I got from those I pm'd about the spring ride said those kinds of rides usually turned into touring bike rides. I disagreed and went on with working on it. It turned out great, but we know the rest of the story. Maybe its just me but I cannot ride 2 1/2 hours in sub 50 degree weather. Those kinds of issues limit those doing the ride to either locals or those who have the protection of full fairings and shields, imho. I wasn't so cool about how this all got thrown so far into the fall month after originally being talked about at the beginning of the month, yada yada yada.. but just kept my mouth shut because I wasn't setting it up. But I get up and gear up and its so friggin cold! I guess I should have just kept this all to myself and instead just leave you all alone because in the end, no one gives a ****. I missed out...this is all I have to say about it. Yall have fun with your future rides!
Sorry you feel this way Mike.
The ride got pushed back to the end of the month instead of the weekend after Labor Day so people would have a chance to recoup from a long weekend.
It was not intended for bagger weather as I've taken from your tone. We had all kinds of bikes.
It was just a ride, that's it. Nothing more. Open to anyone to share a day of riding with others.
You ride a bike and enjoy it the same as us. Doesn't matter what you ride. We don't care. I'm a member of several Chevy Avalanche clubs and when we have Get Togethers (meets, rallies, whatever you want to call them) there are never two of the same trucks as everyone has modded theirs to their liking. Nothing is ever set up as a "Supercharged Only" or "Whatever Only" GTG. Just show up and enjoy yourself.
If the weather is unfit for your liking, stay home. That's all I can say.
I myself am not into the bar hopping scene that I consider (disclaimer* just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like) most Poker Runs to be. I don't mind doing them as they all have great reasons to be held. I participate and enjoy it. However, I prefer just getting on the bike and enjoying the day. I've logged over 8,000 miles so far this year and while maybe 1/3 of that is my commute to work I still enjoy every minute spent on my bike.
Personally, I think you got your feeling hurt when OS was out riding with me one day and traded his Dyna on a Bagger but that's just my opinion. See disclaimer above
I guess in closing out my post here the only other thing I can say is if you want to find something else to bitch and whine about, go find something to do in the political threads. I'm sure there's something there. There's absolutely no reason to bash others for something that was enjoyable for them.
Well guys i would have road on my dyna or on the new bagger either way it didn't matter to me. Was it a little cool that morning yes it was but this is OHIO you or at least i take any op to ride i can. I would have put my leather and long johns on and roade like i always have logging 48,900 miles on a dyna in ohio in 3yrs and the new bagger has 7000 miles on it in less than 3 months.
It was a great ride and weather in ohio can not be predicted i have road to work in july and it was 47 degrees out in the morning
No matter were a ride is put together there will be people riding 15min to it and people riding 2 hours to it. It is what it is.
It was still a 2hr drive to this meet, and yes it was cold but it was well worth the trip to see old and new faces. nice planing bellboy. Can't wait for the next one.As of 8:45 I am a grandpa first one and it is a boy a future harley rider on the way.
