ccstreetbob, nice to hear your wife is going to be riding her own! I LOVE that so many women are going that route. It's not for everyone, but I am so happy I finally got my mc license and my own bike. My hubby was nervous at first, but now absolutely loves it, and it is a passion that we both can share. Glad to hear she's taking a riding course - very important step!!

Thanks for the invite
Ironic that I get invited to a SB group, since that's what I was originally going to buy lol.

Perch, a week after I got the Bob, I started prepping the wife to ride, explaining how to shift, turn, ect. Took her out to a empty parking lot and let her go. She did great! She rode the sporty for about a week during the day while I was at work w/o any problems. The next sunday I get her up early and get ready for a ride. Long story short..it was a short ride. She dropped it a block from the house. Bike was ok, but her pride was shot. Got her ridding again, but she won't go more than a couple of blocks until she takes the course.

ccstreetbob, dropping a bike can definitely set one's confidence and progress back a bit, and is definitely a pride-buster. Been there, done that, as the saying goes. Taking the course is the best thing she can do. Doesn't mean she will never drop a bike again, but she will learn SO much and gain back some confidence. I dropped my first bike the day I came home from taking the course! Barely got it out of our driveway !!! Of course it was THEN that I realized the bike, a Triumph Bonnevile Amercia (800cc) which hubby had given me to be mine, was way too big for me. Not engine size, but the physical size, weight, center of gravity, etc. So I ended up trading in for a bike that fit me (A Suzuki Intruder 800). I was bitten by the rding bug in a major way. Went from the Suzi to an 883 Low to a Nighster, and now the Street Bob which I am loving and very sad that I probably won't ride again now until spring.
Let us know how your wife does - and be tender and patient! I know it will be great for you both.
