Hacked, Conversions and Trailering"Harley Sidecar, Conversion Trikes and Motorcycle Pull Behind Trailering Enthusiasts"
A forum for the discussion of your sidecar, Conversion Trike or Pull Behind Motorcycle Trailer.
I have a Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster Nightster converted into a trike. It's running pretty well but when riding with the stronger ones on the pack sometimes I struggle to keep up the hill. Heard maybe it's possible to upgrade the engine by changing it for a 103. Anyone here can tell me if that's possible? Tks.
You now have a choice...
Not sure of weight on XL based trikes, but going to assume less weight than big twin models.
You can go the Hammer Performance route on your existing bike and get power to weight advantage over the big twins.
Or... you can ditch the XL platform and go to the 103 with a new trike.
The two engines don't share mounts, design, or even drive belt side. Too many mods to make $$$$ work. IMHO.
