Hey guys,
I'm picking up that used N-Line trailer and on the websight they say you need a "special" wiring harness for on the bike, at a cost of about $125.00 or so. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether that is really needed or not? I'm gonna do some more research, but I just can't believe it's really required.
Opinions???
What they are trying to sell you is a taillight converter. Your bike has separate turn signal lights from the brake/taillight. Your trailer more than likely has the turn signal/brakelight as one. That's what the converter does so you do not get back feed into the system from the miss match. I purchased from NAPA the converter part number 755-1086 for $25 my price, and wired it in. Ted
Some of the more expensive harnesses have solid state relays that plug into the bikes wiring harness (some you have to splice) and sense when your running, stop, or turn signal lights are on. They draw power directly from the battery, rather than from the bikes wiring, to power your trailer. That way you have brighter lights on your trailer, won't cause the bikes lights to dim and eliminate the chance of overloading the bikes wiring.

Reason: info
some trailer companies use there own special one of a kind plugs as well. ie bunkhouse. when you go to pick it up i would take along an extra trailer end plug with some scotch locks. just to get it home. unless they tell you for sure what plug is on it. +1 on the isolators. i used to pull trailers with another bike but have not with the h.d.
Did more checking.... the N-Line trailer I'm picking up has a 4 terminal wire plug, the same as a trailer you pull with your car. Matter of fact, I AM pulling this trailer home WITH my car. I had to buy a special converter for my car wiring because of the seperate brake/turn lights, just like the trailer. So now I'll see if the car converter was cheaper than a bike converter, and if so, just buy the car type. I wanted a Uni-Go really bad, but this N-Line has over double the room. I was sold on the single wheel idea.
