I just finished putting the Frankenstein rear-end on my bike. Looks good and I'm sure it will ride good. However, I'm having a problem with it.
On the 2011 Heritage Softails Harley put the new BCM module right in the middle underneath the front of the rear fender.
I guess Frankenstein didn't take this into consideration. After getting it all together following the instructions they provided, I now find that the drive built is rubbing against the bracket for this module.
There is no adjustment for this. The bracket cannot be moved as from what I can see. The only thing I see to do is to shave or notch this bracket to give clearance to the belt.
Frankenstein will not do anything with it. I have been on the phone with them about it several times.
They even asked if I could bring the trike out to them and let them look at it. I was ready to trailer the trike to them. Had the date set with them. At the last minute they told me I should let a shop closer to me look at the problem and see what they could do with it. There are no shops or Harley dealers near me that deal with Frankenstein.
This isn't setting well with me at the moment!
Has anyone else converted a 2011 Softail and come upon this problem?
Looking for any help.
Thanks!
OT

Hmmm. Frankenstein was the very kit I was thinking about myself. Not helping isn't going over very well with me. Think I'll look elsewhere. I liked the idea of doing the job myself but if this is how they work, no thanks.
What is a BCM module. I did a Frankenstein conversion on my FLT and found it to be a well made kit. There are times you have to move stuff, I had to move my battery location from right side at saddlebag to under seat. I also had to clearance rear fender frame due to rear shocks hitting it when depressed. There were other samll things I had to work through on my conversion. From what I have seen, the kit is not made for each specific year and the kits are fairly generic. You sometimes have to relocate stuff as needed. When installing mine I made multiple phone calls to Frankenstein people and they always gave me all the time I needed for help. When you get problem worked, out I believe you will find the kit to be good quality and handles very well.
From what I understand the BCM was new on the 2011 Softails. It takes the place of some of the fuses. It handles the electronics on the bike. A lot less wires in the harness. It is located under the ECM which is on the rear fender under the seat. They connect to each other through the fender. I don't believe they can be moved.
I have nothing against the quality of the Frankenstein trike kit. I agree with you that it is a quality piece of workmanship. My complaint is that it was a change on the bike from Harley Davidson. They should have been aware of that and tweaked what they needed to. I'm trying to work around the problem.
Ive had excellent interaction with Frankenstein. My first frankie kit was on my '09 FatBob and had a clearence problem with the belt. HD made a slight frame change and no one knew about it. I went to the factory and they ended up lengenthing the short hub a little which is now standard on those kits. They paid my fuel, lodging, food and some extra for bringing my bike to them so they could work the problem out.
They surley cant know everything HD does. Im totally suprised they arnt helping you as your problem like mine would impact other installs on the same model.
Have you talked to Frank? He is the guy to go to.
I hope you get it straightened out.

I also suggest you talk to Frank. I bought a used kit month ago and had problems. They went out of their way to help me. Sent a damaged part for repair by their machinist and they replaced it instead at no cost. Frank wants everyone to be happy with his product used or not in my case were his words.
Frankenstein is quality thru and thru. Doing a custom aftermarket setup you should expect to have a few speed bumps along the way. I have over 40,000 on my 'stein and can testify that they are bulletproof and that i always provided excellent customer support to. Hope you get your issue resolved and can enjoy your ride.
