Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for K&N to catch up - they aren't making a filter for the Street Rod, yet.

I need to go out for a night run to see how well the adaptive light works before I can formulate an opinion.

I can say this much however, having an LED headlight definitely makes one more noticeable to drivers. I haven't had nearly as many "Go ahead, pull on out in front of me, J@˘k@$$!" as I've experienced in the past.

955 miles on the clock, going in for the 1K service next Friday...

Tell me about it, the daymaker compared to stock is much, much brighter. Not as much of a difference between low beam and high beam compared to stock, but the low beam alone is brighter than the stock high beam so....

33 years in Ventura County, several bikes, and I FINALLY get up there...

Not just once, but twice in one day. I went up the first time to see if I remembered/knew the way (I've never been on Mulholland past Decker), then had to come home.

One of my coworkers recently got a bike, he's something of a neophyte and he gets hisself a Triumph Triple Rocket Roadster (jeez, maybe you shoulda picked sumpin' a little bigger ) and he needs to learn to throw it around a little. I got ahold of him and asked if he wanted to go. "Sure"

Having just been there, I knew I wouldn't get us lost. Probably.

Beautiful day for it, and surprisingly unbusy, on the roads as well as at the store. It'll probably be mobbed today.

F did really well (I'm trying to get him to understand the concept of counter-steering), and I got to get familiar with the Rod on the twisties.

All in all, a great day of riding.

Clean bill of health for the 1K service. Alanui is getting lots of looks and inquiries, from a wide variety of folks.

Excuse me while I go install some phat wires...

OK, phat wires installed. I won't bother with "before" pics, you get the idea.

I'm not looking for performance gains, really just trying to offset the orange rear springs a little.

You can reuse the existing clips for the rear wire,(barely) they do look a little better than using the zip ties in the kit. I'm reasonably sure the wire will stay in place.

Do yourself a favor and put a little of the grease on the outside of the boot (the ribs) where it plugs into the head.

Nighttime adaptive headlight report;

I ran out to the local REI, there was something I wanted to check out and see if it was worth using the "20% off 1 full-price item" coupon. It kinda wasn't...

So I hung out, had some dinner, let it get dark, then headed home. About a 20 mile ride.

Daymaker is right. The center throw on low-beam could be a little farther, but compared to a halogen, it's way better. High-beam is insane, I've had cars you couldn't see that far with. It's only a 5ž" bulb folks.

The adaptive "fill-in-the-corner" part was a little subtle at first, but I wasn't hitting "dark" corners, most of them had lighting of some kind. But I was seeing the light bars coming on, even just leaning over while going straight.

When I finally did hit a few truly "dark" corners, it's cool. It really does fill in the blanks while you're turning. I could see missing it should it ever die on me and I have to go back to the regular Daymaker. Or a halogen, for that matter.

Is it worth the exorbitant cost? I'm satisfied with it, and I'd most likely buy another. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you.

Didn't really notice much of a difference with the phat wires, like I said, more of a stylistic thang.

And dinner? It was pretty good, but what kind of self-respecting Italian joint DOESN'T have spumoni? Seriously?

1371 miles on the clock...

i have a real 8690A on my dyna and a knock off version of the 8690m on my sportster. the 8690A is a magnificent light, no question. i can't believe people still by hd daymakers with all of these better lights out there, they just don't know or don't wanna know.

Sometimes happenstance well, happens...

I was at my buddy's shop today, and was helping him tidy a little. I've known Johnny for about 30 years or so. He owns a "boys toy store" - guns, knives, LE eqpt, camping, survival, surplus, paintball/airsoft, etc, etc...

I ran across a case for some ESS glasses and was immediately struck by the size and shape;

Street Rod owners will quickly realize that there's a dearth of storage on the bike. (Read- NONE)

"Hey Johnny, can I have this?" "Oh sure"

I practically ran out to the bike, hoping against hope.

It's a perfect fit;

Now, I don't want to be yanking off the front piece all the time and wearing out the grommets, so it's really only good for things one wouldn't be getting at all the time, but I see a small tool kit of essentials fitting in there just fine. Or sumpin' like that. I did ixnay the clip, but left the velcro belt loops on the back. (which also happen to line up perfectly with the risers)

It's just too cool that it's such a perfect fit.

Thanks for the review on the light. It's still a little rich for me though, I have other things I'd like to spend that kind of coin on. Maybe in next years batch of mods.
