For now I just ride it as is. It does not bother me as it seems to bother so many others.

I ride with my toes on the pegs most of the time since I am so used to my Cafe Racer.

@T-Steve Did you buy the 25mm or 40mm ones?

I got the 25mm peg relocators, sir. Like these:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-25mm-Ex...72.m2749.l2649

But you got me interested so I took a quick look at it this morning. The 40mm relocators would fit fine on the left (shifter) side. On the right (brake) side, 40mm might be too large. They would have to be angled more forward than downward. I might try it!

It's sad that a company that has been around since 1903, forces customers to buy aftermarket parts to make their motocycles "fit" them. Another case in point is the Sportster's from 2004 onward, have non-adjustable rear brake pedal adusters. These are items that did exist and then they didn't. (I had to have a custom brake pedal rod fabricated for my 2005 Sportster at great cost when the aftermarket didn't even offer it. Now, DKC is the only company which started to offer it a few months ago.) Other items and accessories which were standard, became extra-cost options.
I realize the MoCo has to make a profit. However, it reminds me of a saying a friend told me a long time ago: "If you give someone a candy bar every day, it's not a big deal. If you suddenly stop doing it, it becomes a big deal."

Maybe enough customers complained that H-D realized their cost-cutting move was a bad idea. I've seen comments in u-tube videos and in forums from Sportster owners with inconsistent brake lever heights, some too low (mine) and some too high.

mine might be adjustable because it's a xr and has rear sets I haven't looked close enough at a xl

I don't know about the rear sets but I do know the mid-controls on my 2005 Sporty XL883 base model and the forward controls on my friend's 2004 XL1200C custom are not adjustable.
