I once own a sports bike, 1991 Kawasaki ZX-10. Out of the box this bike is fast. Previous owner had gone through the engine and was running 3/4 race cams, 11:1 pistons and rejet carbs. Bike was Dynoed and was putting out 145HP with a top end of 212MPH.
So one night I am slightly angry with the whole planet, (no drugs or drink needed) and go blasting down our local hiway, just banging gears and 14,000RPM shifts. Not paying attention to speedo at all. About the time that I hit top end of 5th gear getting ready to shift into 6th, I can tell I am flying so I glance at the Speedo. 175!!!!! I untwist the throttle, slow down to speed limit and putt on home. Parked the bike and did not drive it again. Scared the Poop out of me that I had been so stupid. Bought a Honda '02 VTX-1800 and putted around on that for two years then sold the Kawi as is.
I am lucky because I am writing this today. I read these guys stories and totally understand how easy it is to feel invincible. DEAD is FOREVER. The guy in the video that hit the car had it right, in order to be old and wise you had to be young and stupid.
