FP3 can do new CAMS
...but I found the answer ...it seems to be the AFR table.
To explain, the new cam has much more overlap than the standard cam which results in an increased MAP pressure at idle, mine sits at 40.
OK, so that is perfectly normal ...but
If you have a look at the canned AFR table (certainly for the 2014 softail with Pro Pipe, and also the 3" slip-on I used to have) you will see they take low revs with MAP above 40 out of closed loop rather abruptly, in something of a stepped pattern left to right in the table. I have never found this in anyone else's AFR tables.
Thing is, with your idle sat at 40 MAP - take off and low revs has to contend with this abrupt step change of AFR 14.34 to 13.08 - this is where all of my jerky town riding was coming from
I'm still looking at the rest of the table but change 50 MAP / 750-1125 revs from 13.08 to 14.00, and 60 MAP / 750/1250 revs from 13.08 to 13.70 and she settles down lovely ...and pulls like a steam train
