Any body deal with this. I had ping on my 07 Electra...I have a PC III. I run OVALS and SEAC. I loaded the appropriate map and retarded timing by 2 degrees in the 60,80,100 throttle posistion from 2500 to 6500 rpms. My ping is gone...even on a 90-99 degree day ! BUT........ IF I crack the throttle at cruising speed I still get "1" chirp of a detonation. Any ideas ????? SHB ???
Try adding the accelerator pump utility on the PC3 it will richen it up any time you hit the throttle. A richer shot of gas should get rid of the acceleration ping.
I had something like this happen during Rolling Thunder in D.C. I had never heard my '07 Ultra ping until then. The "parade download" took over...it was pinging every time I gave it gas and it had no power!
Well ok, maybe not like your situation. It must have been the heat and the lack of motion.
I have had this exact problem with my 07 ultra. Mine is stock exhaust and air cleaner. PCIII in - ping, PCIII out - no ping. I have sent it back to DynoJet to evaluate. They better not tell me it is fine! There is something wrong with some of those PCIII units on 07 TC96 engines!

I would have to agree. That's why I went back to my FuelPak. Problem with the FuelPak is that it makes my engine backfire on decel. I was told how to "tune" it out but I have a older version that will not allow me to do this.
I am awaiting word back from Vance and Hines on what they recommend short of purchasing ANOTHER fuel management unit.

Doubt very much you need to retard timing in the entire rpm range, I would go into the 60-80-100- map and retard timing as much as it takes until it stops from the 2000 to 3000 range, also, when you "crack the throttle" you are creating a lugging effect and the engine basically has no vacum(100 MAP) for that split second until the airflow moves again. I had some of the same problems on my 07 Ultra and I used acclerator enrichment to help cover it up also but I found when doing that I lost some throttle response, with the SERT data mode it was easy to pin down exactly where in the timing curve I was having the problem and correct it from there, I actually have some negative timing numbers at high map, low rpm areas, all things considered this is an area of the map you will rarely see unless severelylugging the engine which can be cured with a simple downshift. The other possibility is that you are a bit lean in those map areas and without a means to check afr you can only add fuel and see what happens.
What plugs are you running? I had a problem with ping in hot weather running platnum plugs. Went back to stock plugs and ping went away. Now I run platnum plugs in the winter for easier starting and stock plugs in the summer. Seems the platnums do not dissipate heat well. When they get hot, they will ignite fuel without spark.
Thanks to all for your replies. I only get on here at work so I haven't had a chance to check responses to my posts but in the meantime I spoke to someone at Dynojet who also suggested the accelerator pump feature. I installed it and rode 2 up on Saturday...I did NOT notice any ping...even if I cracked the throttle. I haven't ridden solo yet...but I'll keep ya posted. I have my fingers crossed but IF things work out....I think all my ping is gone....YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by the way...as far as rolling thunder goes....I went in '93...it was sunny and HOT!!! I give much respect to VETS !!! but I'm not sure I'll ever go again. I saw several broken down bikes and my brand new one at the time began to ping and shutter until I shut it down...no long term problems.
Anyway...it was a GREAT experience that everyone should have.
