My son has a 2013 dyna switch back with an screaming eagle air cleaner, crusher full exhaust and a power commander 5. He stores the bike in his shed out back. It has no power so he pulled the battery and charged it inside. He unfortunately did not leave the bike full of gas with a fuel stabilizer in it for the winter. He hasn't rode it for almost a year. So he installed the battery and fired it up. It ran for a little bit then it started sitting and sputtering when you twist the throttle. Thought it might be the fuel so we drained it. Tried to start it. No luck. same issue. The bike will idle fine but as soon as you add throttle it pops spits and backfires. Here are the things we have checked/Tried. We changed spark plugs and checked the coil pack. Good spark. Removed the Screaming eagle air cleaner to see if it was block Then checked all the plug ins for the sensors. no issues. No wire s chewed up.The bike has the code p107 Map sensor failure. We replaced it still has the same issue. Removed and cleaned all grounds, cransk/cam shaft sensor, speed sensor, and iacc. We re-installed the map on the PC5 and also removed it from the bike and tried with just the ECM. Still no luck. We are stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thank Guys.
map failure code could have been set from the rough running, did you test it before replace?
right off, i would check fuel pressure.
this is what i recently came across:
engine would run but start to fade, sometimes stopping like there was no spark. engine did have spark although not great. battery was "OK" but testing the regulator since i came across a weird reading, a negative output, changed regulator but symptom was still there sporadically. started snaking the wiring and found that the fuse had melted a tang in the socket, this caused a low current so the fuel pump although ran, did not do so at speed so it had reduced pressure. repaired it and everything back to normal. further testing proved the other regulator was "OK".
i know you can have a negative reading with two positive sources or negative for that matter but i know i was referencing it correctly so haven't figured that one out yet.
Thanks for the responding. The fuel that came out was fine. Did not test the map sensor. I don't have a way to test the fuel pressure. Going to try replacing the fuel filter then pull the injectors and clean them. Hope it works.
Here is the update for my son's bike. Took it to the dealer and they found out that the Speed sensor was bad. It shorted and caused the Map sensor to read incorrectly. They replaced it and it runs great. Lesson learned. Hope this helps
