Smog Sensor?
Is there something that controls smog sensing on the ecm? I spoke with Bub earlier today about decel pop and he thought that there may be something in the newer bikes for smog control that sends unburnt fuel to the exhaust. If this was something that could be checked, I was wondering what it is called and where it could be found.

Sending unburnt fuel to the exhaust would cause more smog- the whole purpose behind the EPA's tampering with our bikes is to reduce unburnt and partially burnt fuel emissions.

Some bikes (Japanese bikes for sure, not Harleys as far as I know) have an exhaust air induction system that basically injects air into the exhaust under certain circumstances to mix with the unburnt/partially burnt fuel to dilute it, making it appear that the exhaust is cleaner. These bikes are prone to decel popping, especially noticeable if less restrictive mufflers are installed.

On manyengines with acatalytic converter in their exhaust they have an air pump that injects air into the exhaust to flash the cat so it heats up quicker duringthe more rich engine warmup to reduce emmissions sooner.
