K & N RK 3930 Air Intake
I'm just reading the instructions on the install for new filter system, and the instructions say "disconnect the negative side" of the battery prior to start. Can someone enlighten me on why that would be in the instructions? On the K&N site says for safety ? Is it to recalibrate the ECM on start up? I do know will have to get a re tune after, thanks

Just a safety precaution. I don't think there is a section on the service manual that doesn't say to unhook the battery before starting the job. CYA from MOCO.
Disconnecting the battery won't change the ECM settings, but of course you will have to reset the clock and any radio presets.
