Default To tune or not to tune?

I have a 2011 flhtcu and I am about to install headers, cobra slip on mufflers and a k&n air filter. Do I need to tune my bike?

would the HD tuner be a good choice or is it possibly to have it calibrated at a shop?

Just take it to the best tuner in your area and follow his recommendations.
Never a downside to recalibrating (tuning) your bike’s EFI, just upsides for best mileage, performance, smoothness, throttle response, decel backfiring, etc.
I always recommend talking to those who have had their bikes tuned for help with that decision.

Bob is spot on. I tried the tuner route with canned maps and just was not right. After the dyno tune the bike started easier, ran cooler, no decel popping and the throttle response was probably the most noticeable difference...the lag was gone. Did I mention it also had more power?
