Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
I've a 2020 1200 sportster. I recently installed V&H mini grenades, and an arlen ness big sucker (little lockdown project). Install all good, everything tight, no leaks as far as I can tell. FP3 mini grenade map flashed onto ECM.
First ride out, running lovely. Once warm, I take it just over 4000rpm, all of a sudden it sounds like I've hit a rev limiter, engine light comes on and revs now won't go over 3000? I get it home and use the FP3 to find the p1505 fault code (power limit violation). I cleared the code, and reinstalled map just to be sure. Taken it out again today, same thing has happened again.
Does anyone have any ideas? Everything running so good till this point!
They program rev limiters into Street models used in rider training. I haven't heard of it in other models though. When the ridder exceeds the preset rpm in a gear it is a rev limiter and states Power Limit Violation.
My initial thought would be to check the rev limit set in the map.
Coming up to 1000 miles. Would Harley put this on though? Only way to clear the code/limit/engine light is to plug it in. If someone didn't have an FP3 or similar, that's a lot of trips to the dealership

To protect the motor during brake-in? I seem to remember someone mentioning this on international HDs. You can probably clear the codes through the speedo but am both sure.
I can see some guy going into a dealership and saying, "I'm not obeying break-in rules, can you clear the code for me?"

Thanks in advance.
Sounds like the FP3 has put the wrong calibration into your bike. There are different regulations in Europe than the USA. The P1505 is letting you know that you've exceed the limits and shuts the power down to a new fix RPM limit.
