Default Mileage Expectations

I have a 2008 Fat Bob with V&H Big Shots, SE255 cam, aftermarket air cleaner, and a Thunder Max that the previous owner installed. The dufus put the ECM in upside down so it was never properly set up. When I bought it I got about 35 mpg. After updating the firmware and calibrating the IAC I'm getting 38 to 39 mpg. Before I massage the AFR's in the cruising range to try to improve fuel economy I would like an idea what is reasonable to expect. Thank you for your inputs.

I don't know how you can install the ECM upside down, and even if you can it shouldn't make any difference. If you haven't already, download the tuning manual for the TMax and follow the set up steps to make sure it's right.
Your gas mileage is in the ballpark. Some get more, some get less with similar mods. Depends on the mods and riding style. I've gotten as low as 30 and as high as 45. BFD, it's not a Vespa.

The mileage you were getting seems pretty high from a stock map on a TMax. Those stock maps run pretty rich to get the most power possible. Don't expect much over 40 mpg.

I had no idea you could install a tuner upside-down. Furthermore, I had absolutely no idea that even if you could, that it could somehow affect its’ tuning ability!?

The tuner being upside down results in the cable port being on the bottom and impossible to see. I used a mirror and flashlight to see how it was oriented and then plugged in by touch.
