I've got a 05 RK/custom, without the security system, question, is the bike wired from the factory to plug and play a security system? If so, what would i have to buy, the key bob, siren, and what else? thanks.
First things first my applogies for jumping your thread but I have searched everything I can think of to search. In your post Shovelhead Bob you stated that there were detailed instructions on how to install and activate the TSSM. I apparently didn't get those but after some research I was able to get the TSSM installed and married to the ECM but I still haven't found how to activate the security portion of the unit. I love to work on my own stuff if I can and absolutely love a challenge but am I just spinning my wheels or is there a way to activate the unit without going to the dealership?
If it is for an 07, with the smart security system, you need to have the dealer marry the key fobs to the bike TSSM.
There are sections covering this in the Service Manual (99483-07) and Electrical Diagnostic Manual (99497-07)
Thanks for the response I was just making that last ditch effort to get the satisfaction of doing the install on my own with no "assistance" $$$ from the dealership. It was just a shot in the dark but I thought that if they were going to make it possible to marry components together just by flipping a few switches there would surely be a sequence to activate the system. You know like standing with one foot in a bucket and your left shoe on your head...lmao
