I’ve read countless forums and think I’ve gotten my answer but I want to double check. I bought a 2009 Electra a few months ago with a built motor (127cc) and a tuner (I think power vision but not positive, I texted the shop I bought the bike from to double check) and the past couple rides I’ve been having a cranking issue when hot. It rides like a dream, sounds great, no loss of power or performance but the moment you cut the bike off at a store or restaurant it won’t crank up until it cools off. I’ve had it crank up within 20min of cooling or it’s taken upwards of 45min of cooling. I took a spark tester to it yesterday and when hot it has no spark to either plug. But once it cooled off enough it sparked and the bike crunk right back up with no issues.
My thought was coil (which I ordered yesterday) just curious if I’m on the right track or should I be looking at something else since the bike runs fine otherwise
Sometimes, when the crank position sensor “starts” to fail it shows up when heat soaked from sitting when hot. Then it will get more finicky as time goes on until it is dead period. Cheap part to replace and known to fail. Heat and vibration are hard on electronics so no surprise.

I forgot to mention, I replaced the crank sensor 1st and still getting the same issue that’s what made me check for spark when hot and it’s not getting any but the moment it does it fires right up
Note that the rear plug needs to be installed and rear cylinder have compression when checking for spark. The next thing would be the system relay. Do you hear the fuel pump run when the ignition / runstop switches are toggled? You should also hear the fuel pump run after cranking for a few seconds. Fuel pump and coil are powered off the system relay.
Not sure if you saw this from Max: “Note that the rear plug needs to be installed and rear cylinder have compression when checking for spark.”
If the crank doesn’t slow down during compression stroke the ECM will not allow the ignition to fire the sparkplugs.

Yes. I saw that. Spark plug was never taken out. I bought a tester that I hooked from the wire to the plug when checking for spark on both plugs separately and when hot the bike didn’t produce spark then waited a few and it sparked and crunk right up.
