I have a 2015 ultra low air cooled 103HO 15k miles with stock Air box- k&n hi flow filter, stock head pipe with vance & hines 4.5 Titan slip ons. Im considering purchasing the V&H FP4. My goal is to cool the bike a little, improve performance and if it can sound a little better, thatd be great. I really have no intentions to do any more engine mods. My bike gets great fuel milage now and is very dependable but runs a little warm and sounds blah. Not looking to spend alot of $ or make any mods to sacrifice mpg or reliability, or make it into a hot rod. I primarily use this bike for trips 2 up. I was considering decatting the pipe but have not done it at this point. I reached out to V&H support to see if they had a map for this setup before I purchase. They replied quickly and told me which map they recommend, but said if I decat stock headpipe, then I cannot use the autotune feature. They said run 2 tanks of gas through it and let them know how it performs. Does anyone have first hand experience with a setup like this, If I purchase the FP4, should I decat or not? Thanks in advance.
Others can correct me if I’m wrong, but the tune you get for your bike will enrich the air-fuel mixture which, in turn, will help alleviate some heat. However, you will take a hit on fuel mileage. I know my ‘14 Limited, tuned with the FP3, took a fuel mileage hit, but it does run cooler and I’m good with it. I do still have the cat.

This is not entirely true, object of tuning the bike is to increase the efficiency of the fuel being used, a lot of mods increase the airflow through the engine therefore requiring more fuel, many report better fuel mileage after a proper tune
To the OP, the issue with the Fuel Pack platform is as far as I know there is no way to compare changes between auto tune sessions to see what it's changing and there is no logging capability to see if the changes you make are helping or not in outside of autotune riding. I do find it ironic that there whole marketing campaign is based on the autotune feature but you are not the first one to say that when they talked to a V&H tech they were told not to use the autotune feature
First choice would be to find a capable tuner in your area and have the bike properly tuned
Second would be to call Fuel Moto and see what they suggest for someone in your situation
Fuel pack would not be an option for me

Thanks,
I did as you recommended and called Fuel Moto. The tech recommended that I forget about the FuelPak. He said all of their tunes are epa compliant and it will limit me. He recommended removing cat, and purchasing the power vision 4. He said they will send the correct map to the tuner. Its cheaper than the fuelpak and can be used again in the future.
