Electrical failure
I have a 2006 1200XL Sportster that I am having electrical problems with. I bought the bike new and it has 850 miles on it. Threeweeks ago I put the key in the switch and turned it and all of the indicator lights came on fine but when I went to crank it the bike died. No power. There was no sound when this happened or anything, all the lights just died.
I took it to the dealer and they said it was the maxi fuseand a short in the ground wire.
Tonight I put the key in the switch, all indicator lights looked fine butwhen I hit the ignition buttonit died again. No power. I had an extra maxi fuse and replaced it and the indicator lights came back on and I cranked it again and the lights went out, again. It would not start.
Is this something that anyone has seen frequently or any suggestions? The dealer said it was a chance happening and never should have happened but this is the second time in 3 weeks.
