I installed the 2.2.2 firmware and it definitely elimenated the detonation when I cracked the throttle. But I still have a very slight ping around 2000 RPMs at cruise.

I don't know what's going on with this detonation issue with '07's. The ion-discharge system used should nix detonation before it is audible, at least that's the way it works in my car, but last winter I heard a few instances of detonation on mine. That was when I bumped advance up in the cruise range, first 5° and then 10°, but later set it back to zero. The ideal is that point just below where detonation occurs, so I may play around with this a bit more. I always use 93-octane gas, so if you are using anything lower it may be part of the problem.
The only place I've been able to find 93 octane around here is 75 miles away! The best we have here in town is 91.
It's a little frustrating trying to dial in the tuning on this bike with no dyno but I have to say it is much cheaper! Change a setting and go ride, change a setting and go ride, change a....! Kind of a pain but I know once it is done, it's done.
For the most part the bike runs quite well. Lots of pulling power, pretty smoothat cruise, there's just that very slightping in sixth at cruise (2000-2300 RPMs) that I'm determined to get rid of.
I know there is the right combination of A/F and timing. I just have to find it.
I've always used 93 and still HAD the problem. Of course bad gas could contribute as well....and with less premium being sold due to pricing...our quality gas gets older.
I will post it, I just have to figure out how to do it. I also tried Dsanchez's map and my bike ran alot better. I tweaked the timing like my original map, but overall I am impressed. I just hope it is not to lean for my set up. I'll keep an eye on the spark plugs. Thanks for posting that map!
I figured it out. Use at your own risk. I modified the one posted by Dsanchez that I modified slightly for my bikes profile. I just added a little fuel and timing at idle to 1500 rpm,s and made the timing the same as my first map. I think the bike runs better than ever with the advanced map. Nice job Dsanchez!!
You are welcome. The reality is that the map I made is a combination of Dynojet's map for OVALS/SEAC and WILD PIGS *advance* map. I used the map compare feature and then averaged them. I wanted a map that tuned the rear cylander like the Wild pigs map but I knew that was rich....so I leaned out the cruising area a little. I also retarded the timing a little. I've been playing with this since I got the bike in Sept of 06 with the goal of getting it to run well. I think I'm there. I don't have any more ping and my heat is lower than stock. I've ridden in very warm temps , under load, etc...no ping. This was my goal.
Yeah I know, but that map of yours runs good in my bike. maybe because I have the quiet 1.75 in.baffles in my Rinehart's? What I am doing is promoting my map to advanced then averaged it with your map in the 0-10 and 0-20 % range. This made it a little richer there than yours. The timing changes I mentioned in my earlier post helped, and it does not ping, hesitate, or have any flat spots!
