I think I may know what the problem is, but I thought I'd run it by the experts here. This morning as I was riding to work on my 06 Street Bob, I noticed that the lights (all of them, including speedo) pulsed brighter and dimmer every 5 seconds or so. I just charged my (dead) battery yesterday, but I stopped when the charging current was still at 3 amps because I had to get to work. So I'm pretty sure it was only a partial charge (it charged for about 90 minutes).
Is this pulsing a sign that the battery isn't fully charged? That I may need a replacement? Unfortunately, due to a few moves in the recent past, my battery has gone dead more than once. I'm just worried that I'll lose my lights in the pitch black. Thanks for any help you all can offer.
Take the battery out and have it tested at autozone or your dealer. Sounds like you may have one that is going to fail. You may have a short or current leak somewhere on the bike. But I would start by having the battery tested.
Did you ever figure out why the battery died? Check your battery but keep in mind the bike (in motion) runs off the stator ........... anything coming out of that?
