Default pc111 or thundermax

i have a 06 road king with se pipes and k&n a/c and obviously need a little more adjustability..other than these mods its totally stock with 2500 miles.i dont want to go with auto tune and have to put in exh bungs for sensors so my question would be pc111 or the original zippers 309-340 non closed loop ecm..buddys are telling me go with the t-max because you don't have the limitations built into the factory ecm to deal with since the 309-340 replaces it...any input from you harley gurus would be much appreciated..oh ya, i did have a stage 1 download from the dealer..waste of $$

Default RE: pc111 or thundermax

I ran the PC III on my 06 Wide Glide for just short of a year, after a couple of dyno tunes by two different tuners that did not know what they were doing. I worked over the fuel map myself and finally got the engine to run reasonably well, but I still felt that it just wasn’t quite right. Since I plan to build the motor up and I knew that none of the local tuners seemed to be capable of putting a tune on a comparatively stock bike, I thought that having one tune on a modified engine would be a total waste of time and money. I replaced the PC III with the T-Max with auto tune and the bike runs better that it ever has before. I still think that PC III can be a good fuel management system if you can find a tuner that really is knowledgeable on the PC III and knows how to use that dyno. Other than that you will just have to find the closest map that you can and ride and adjust it on your own. The right canned map as a starting point is a big help. After saying this I will also tell you that knowing what I know now, I wish that the T-Max with Auto tune had been available when I purchased my PC III, It would have been cheaper to go with the T-Max in the long run. If you buy the T-Max get it with Auto tune and have the bungs installed, it is worth the extra expense.

Good luck with it
